Cerro Don Lauro

Chasing epic views? Cerro Don Lauro is calling.

If you’re the kind of traveler who must find the best viewpoint in every city—this one’s for you.

Reaching the summit

Just a 15-minute drive from San Cristóbal, Cerro Don Lauro delivers a 2-hour roundtrip hike through pine forests, trickling streams, and hillside farms. At the summit? A jaw-dropping panorama of the valley below, especially if you catch it at sunrise with city lights still twinkling.

Start at Calle Insurgentes and follow the red arrows toward El Mirador or Ruta del Águila. Both lead to the top; the left path adds a bit of scrambling for the bold-hearted.

Immerse into indeginous spiritulaity

This isn’t just a hike—it’s a spiritual climb. Named after the legendary Mayan healer Don Lauro de la Cruz, the mountain hosts temazcal sweat ceremonies, drum circles, and sacred altars. You’ll feel the energy shift as you ascend.

Good to know

There’s a small entry fee—your contribution to preserving this sacred, privately protected land. Respect the space, and it’ll reward you with unforgettable views and soul-stirring depth.
